Cleaner energy is coming to North Vancouver
Lonsdale Energy is building a new energy centre this year. This facility, called the Urban Heat Recovery Centre, captures heat from wastewater and reuses it. Instead of letting that heat go to waste or flow into the ocean, we turn it into energy for our customers.
Once operating, the centre will reduce our emissions by about 40%. That equals roughly 7,600 tonnes of CO2 each year, or the same as taking 2,700 gas-powered cars off the road.
In addition to building the new centre, the project will also include environmental enhancements to the surrounding area near Mosquito Creek, as well as public realm enhancements.
What to expect during construction
Work is will continue through 2027. We are working to minimize disruption and appreciate your patience as we build cleaner energy for the future.
