Lonsdale Energy, a municipally-owned utility, has provided heating and cooling services in the City of North Vancouver since 2003. Operating the community energy system (district energy), we serve thousands of customers daily in the Lower Lonsdale, Central Lonsdale, Marine-Hamilton, and Moodyville neighbourhoods.
Currently, about one in four City of North Vancouver residents are Lonsdale Energy customers.
We deliver reliable, affordable energy to the City of North Vancouver while improving efficiency and reducing emissions.
A connected, resilient city that’s powered by low-carbon energy.

Lonsdale Energy has received multiple awards for our innovative approach and our role in key City projects:
Community energy (also known as district energy) is a centralized system that produces and distributes thermal energy (heat or cooling) to multiple buildings in a specific area, such as the City of North Vancouver. Rather than each building having its own heating or cooling system, community energy shares thermal energy from centralized energy centres to meet the needs of all connected buildings.
Lonsdale Energy is the largest municipally owned community energy system in Western Canada.
